RTR Volunteer In New Guinea

Kudjip, Papua New Guinea 2017 Electrical Power Project

RTR’s own Allan Everett will be taking his talents and 32+ years of electrical expertise some 9000 miles away to the highlands of Papua New Guinea. Allan will spend three weeks beginning April 22^nd as part of a volunteer team of professionals from I-TEC (International Technical Electric & Construction). I-TEC is non-denominational ministry based in Montoursville, Pa. which utilizes volunteers to see to the technical needs of missionaries and not for profit organizations worldwide as well as to support local and international disaster relief.

Allan will assist with the installation of an electrical distribution line that will provide service to Kudjip Nazarene Hospital. Papua New Guinea ranks as one of the least developed nations on earth where there are currently only 5 physicians for every 100,000 people (the world average is 139 per 100,000). The region also currently has extremely high maternal and infant mortality rates. These facts underscore the importance of the work of volunteers like Allan and organizations like I-TEC are doing in the region and all over the world by ensuring hospitals have uninterrupted power.

Allan has been with RTR since July 2016 in his role as Constructability Manager. The RTR family is proud he has volunteered his time to aid others and we will be posting photos of the work when he returns. We are sure the people of Papua who encounter Allan on his trip will appreciate his pleasant demeanor, ever-present smile and professionalism as much as we do back home.
