Storm Duty

RTR Energy Solutions provides many services, one of which is storm support during and after severe weather events. This week northeastern Pennsylvania was struck by severe thunderstorms causing downed wires and power outages throughout the area. Several RTR employees responded to assess downed lines and protect them from causing additional injury given that the integrity of a downed line is not always known.

A single phase line, the kind that provides power for heating and lighting that most of us are used to seeing, can potentially carry in excess of 50 amps (7,000 volts). Given that beyond 10 amps, death is probable, it is vital that downed lines that may still be carrying power are monitored and protected until such time as repairs can be made. RTR provides that service whenever the need arises.
