Just to Clarify
RTR Survey is in the process of surveying several 64 foot diameter clarifiers for a municipality in Northern New Jersey. Built in the 1960’s the clarifiers are being fitted with parts to replace those degraded by age. RTR’s task is to collect elevations at 30 degree intervals along the inside wall, at the center low spot and midway between so that the new parts can be put into place without obstruction. Clarifiers work via a central motor turning arms equipped with blades, making it essential to collect accurate data to determine the slope of the tank floor and wall diameters. 42 locations in all were requested to be collected (shown in the table on the drawing RTR created).
Site control was set by GPS and a robotic Trimble S5 was used to stake out and collect the necessary elevations. The data was then imported into Autodesk Civil3D to create a drawing displaying the elevations collected as well as existing bolt patterns on the flange connecting the support column to the floor.
This unique and challenging project demonstrates the versatility and problem solving capabilities of RTR’s highly experienced surveyors.
