RTR Takes Flight

Led by our Technology Services Manager Mike Kunkel (FAA licensed drone pilot), RTR has created a program to provide aerial surveying, inspection, mapping and thermal imaging both as stand alone services and to support our Outage Coordination, Surveying, Project Management and Environmental groups. Mike has years of drone piloting experience and in addition construction manager Jim Mylin, and Senior Surveyor Bud Miller, recently obtained their licenses as UAV (drone) pilots.

Currently the RTR aerial fleet consists of two units: a Yuneec 520 equipped with a FLIR (forward looking infrared) camera capable of capturing both hi-res video and thermal imaging and an Autel EVO capable of capturing video at 4k resolution at 60 frames per second.

By combining state of the art hardware & software, decades of experience, a family environment and a problem solving mindset RTR is uniquely capable of meeting our client’s technical needs both on the ground and, now, through the air.
